Given that opportunity, businesses everywhere are trying to reach new customers through this medium, and the job options for social media specialists are growing.
Because social media is a relatively new field, there aren’t many marketing degree programs in social media available with universities. But because social media jobs incorporate both marketing and communicating, there are several bachelor’s degree options that can be beneficial to this job. They might include – Marketing, Public relations, Strategic communications, Journalism, English etc. These related traditional degrees from recognized universities will be a first step toward pursing a career in social media.
And, of course, employers will likely want to see that you have a good grip on the major social media sites specifically. Landing a social media job and not being active on at least a few of these sites may make you a less desirable candidate for the job. So consider how you create and manage your own social media persona.
