How to publish and share content on Linkedin

The happy news is LinkedIn has lately announced that members will be able to post on their social network’s publishing platform. LinkedIn’s help center claims publishing is quite easy and you will not be required to do anything complicated.

If you have permission to publish (it is expected that access will be gradually rolled out to everyone over the coming weeks), you’ll be able to click the Edit icon on your homepage. You will thereafter be taken to the writing tool. Create whatever content you wish to publish to the writing tool, and then hit Publish.

Once you have successfully published, your post will appear on your profile and be shared with your all those who you are connected to as also members who just follow your posts. Interestingly, you will also be able to follow others’ content even without being a LinkedIn connection.

Even after you publish, you will still be able to monitor your post’s statistics – like number of views, likes, and other metrics, and flag undesirable comments. It is just child’ play to write, edit, publish, and monitor your content.

Psychologically speaking, everyone has an innate desire to write and publish his/her views. With the rise of publishing platforms, everyone is understandably trying to put his hand in the self-publishing pie.

It is common knowledge that people flock to sites where there is interesting and informative content. Creating useful content and building an audience can be intimidating.

It is known to all that LinkedIn relies rather heavily on advertising to grow its business, this new publishing feature makes a lot of sense. However, only time will tell how successful their latest move will be. But for now, it is heartening to see how more and more social media sites are trying to become publishing platforms.

This new facility provided by LinkedIn should make marketers more cheerful – not only to keep up with your industry but also to look out for new opportunities for your business.

It is time you start exploring this new feature to see if it makes sense for your marketing goals.  But, remember that publishing in LinkedIn cannot and should not replace publishing to your own company blog.

Though you own the content you publish on LinkedIn, your are factually only hiring the space. If LinkedIn – at a later – date decides to change its publishing rules, the grim fact is you will be at their mercy.
